Book Beef

I can’t believe this.

I spent years (years!!) agonizing over every word, every sentence, every metaphor in my book about cofounders. I poured my soul into it. Bled on the keyboard. Cried into the Google Doc. I even used semicolons unironically.

And then this guy, Dr. Matthew Jones Matt, my competition, publishes his book.

Of course it’s brilliant.
Of course it’s insightful.
Of course, he manages to explain cofoundership based on his doctorate in psychology and experience coaching teams backed by YC, a16z, and Sequoia.

And don’t get me started on the cover. Gorgeous. Minimalist. Mine looks like a group project everyone quit halfway, including me.

If you couldn’t tell by now, I’m kidding.

I love what Matt’s done with his book. There aren’t many of us cofounder coaches out there so this is a huge win for our industry.

Cofounders need more than cap tables and personality tests. They need language. Stories. Tools that help them name the tension, deal with the silence, and build something real together.

That’s what Matt’s book does. And if you care about building something that lasts, not just as a product, but as a partnership, you should read it.
